🏔️ Focus Site: Felsenweg cliff path + Hammetschwand Lift — 2.2 km rock path carved into the cliff face, then Europe's highest outdoor elevator (153 m in 60 seconds).
Europe's highest outdoor elevator — 153 meters up a vertical cliff face in about 60 seconds. Built in 1905 and still running. At the top: a restaurant and views across the entire lake. Not for anyone with serious fear of heights, but unforgettable for everyone else.
Approach: 15-minute drive from Ennetbürgen to Bürgenstock parking.

An open-top double-decker cable car (the "Cabrio") takes you to 1,898 m with nothing but air above your head. The vintage funicular from Stans is charming, the summit views cover 100 km of Alps and 10 lakes, and wild marmots hang out near the top. One of Switzerland's most unique mountain experiences.
Approach: 20-minute drive to Stans, then funicular + Cabrio to summit (~20 min total).

🏔️ Focus Site: Lucerne Old Town — Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), Water Tower, and painted facades on Weinmarkt.
Switzerland's most picturesque city — the covered Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) dates to the 14th century, the painted facades on Weinmarkt are original, and the lake and mountains frame everything. Compact enough to explore in an afternoon with kids.
Approach: 20-minute drive from Ennetbürgen, park near Löwenplatz.

🏔️ Focus Site: Mount Pilatus (2,132 m) — dragon mountain with panoramic gondola, adventure playground at Fräkmüntegg, and alpine trails.
The dragon mountain towering over Lucerne — reachable by gondola from Kriens (no steep cogwheel needed on this side). The summit at 2,132 m has a adventure playground at Fräkmüntegg mid-station with rope courses and a toboggan run. Pilatus feels more "fun park" than Rigi feels "classic Swiss."
Approach: Drive to Kriens, gondola + cable car to Pilatus Kulm (~30 min).

The "Queen of the Mountains" — Europe's oldest mountain railway (1871) chugs up from Vitznau to 360° views of 13 lakes and the full Alpine chain. Less dramatic than Pilatus but more historically charming. The cogwheel train itself is the experience.

A 19th-century fairy-tale castle on a peninsula jutting into Lake Lucerne, with terraced gardens and a large lakeside playground. The castle grounds are open to walk around even if you don't tour inside. One of the best "castle + playground + lake swim" combos near your Airbnb.
Approach: 15-minute drive to Meggen, walk the castle grounds.
