Toggenburg's signature summit at 2,262 m — rebuilt in 2015 with a striking modern summit building. On clear days you can see six countries. The gondola ride up is dramatic, the panorama trail along the cliff edge has wide, easy sections with big views, and there's a restaurant at the top. One of eastern Switzerland's best family mountain days.

Also called the Toggenburg Tone Trail — 20+ interactive musical stations scattered along a mountain path. Kids bang drums, ring bells, and play giant xylophones while hiking from Alp Sellamatt toward Wildhaus. One of the best themed family hikes in Switzerland.

Approach: Gondola from Alt St. Johann, hike one-way (~3–4 hrs with play stops), bus back.

A 150-meter karst cave in the mountainside — legendary in local folklore as the home of wild men. The hike from Alp Sellamatt is about 2 hours through forest and meadow, and the cave stays cool even on hot days. Feels like a proper adventure without being dangerous.

The Thur river drops through a series of powerful cascades near Unterwasser, just 10 minutes from Wildhaus. A short forest walk from the parking lot gets you close enough to feel the spray. Impressive but not a hard hike — good for kids who like waterfalls.

One of Switzerland's most turquoise lakes, ringed by dramatic cliffs. The beach at Unterterzen has swimming, paddleboarding, and that Caribbean-blue water that doesn't look real. A 45-minute drive from Wildhaus and a completely different landscape from the alpine village.

A short gondola ride from central Wildhaus drops you on open alpine pasture at Gamplüt — grazing cows, wildflowers, and big Churfirsten views without a hard climb. Kids can wander the meadow trails, spot marmots, and run around at altitude while you take it easy. One of the best low-effort mountain days in Toggenburg.
